In principle, there are three different approaches to calculating and quoting the removal of a pipe blockage to the customer:

1. on the basis of the length of pipe worked on (price per meter)

2. on the basis of hourly rates (price per hour)

3. on the basis of fixed prices (price per service)

Since costs based on pipe lengths or hourly rates simply cannot be calculated in advance, no service provider will be able to give you reliable price information in advance! It can get even worse when companies even use two billing methods. The consumer advice center also reports on these methods.

Our flat rates may vary in the event of unforeseen additional expenses beyond our control. Possible reasons for this can be:

- Force majeure (e.g. severe thunderstorms), which may lead to an increased expenditure of time,

- Age-related material fatigue / corrosion or the improper use of chemical pipe cleaners,

- Faulty / improper installation of the pipes, i.e. when the sewage system is not installed according to the generally accepted rules of technology,

- in case of root ingrowth, pipe breakage, socket misalignment,

- in case of improper use of the drainage system such as: Disposal of food leftovers, feminine hygiene articles, wet wipes, foreign bodies of any kind that are not intended to be disposed of via the drainage objects (mixed construction waste, tile adhesive, etc.),

- extremely greasy pipes, especially in case of non-observance of disposal dates of grease traps or in case of improper disposal of vegetable and animal fats (e.g.: deep fryer emptied in the sink)

First of all, it must be determined where exactly the blockage is located:

In the public connecting sewer in the street or in the private ground pipes in the property. If a RohrStar technician is on site, he can check this e.g. via the inspection shaft on your property.

If the drain in your inspection shaft is free, the blockage is in the private area. In this case RohrStar is your contact for unblocking.

If the drain in your inspection chamber is not free and there is accumulated wastewater in the inspection chamber, the blockage is most likely in the public connecting sewer (public area). In this case, your city/municipality is responsible . Only the city/municipality may carry out pipe cleaning in the public area.
